Every Wednesday from 10:00 to 2:00 (lunch provided). All are welcome! No experience necessary
Aboriginal art has always been at the forefront in promoting awareness and understanding of Australia's rich and diverse Indigenous culture. For many non-Aboriginal people, Aboriginal paintings or other art are the first experience they have of Australia's Aboriginal heritage and as such the production of art and craft is an important means for Aboriginal people to communicate their stories, spirituality and relationship to the land.
The program will cover arts and crafts of Indigenous people such as basket weaving, pottery, dance and costume making, painting, coolamon and didgeridoo making and decorating. The art and craft produced will be displayed at known events such as NAIDOC, SURVIVAL, HARMONY, and such like.
Exhibitions at the local shopping centres and boutique art centres may also be considered.
